On-Line Furnace Commissioning & Service Tune-Up Class (Pre-req for Hands-On GR lab!)

THIS IS A FREE ONLINE CLASS THRU JOHNSTONE UNIVERSITY, THAT IS A PRE-REQUISITE TO THE HANDS-ON FURNACE CLASS IN THE JOHNSTONE GRAND RAPIDS TRAINING LAB.  YOU MUST TAKE THIS FREE, APPROX 1 HOUR ONLINE CLASS BEFORE YOU REGISTER FOR THE HANDS-ON LAB.

The online portion of this class will cover the basic operation and maintenance of forced air residential furnaces. Students learn to identify and understand the operation of furnace components and their sequence of operation.

Topics Include:

• Understanding the combustion process
• Types of furnaces and their efficiencies
• Furnace components used for safety and control
• Different types of furnace ignition systems
• Furnace control wiring and thermostats
• Sequence of Operation

1. For first-time users, click on: I want to Register for a FREE Account.
2. Either register for an account, or click on “I want to Login”
3. For first-time users: Accept the terms of Johnstone University Privacy Statement.
4.  Once logged in, in the upper left-hand column click on the 3 lined menu, then click on: “All course and Learning Plans Catalog”. This will bring up the following header on the main page: “Custom Catalog for 008 Muskegon Contractors”. Click on this link.
5. This will bring up the class: “Hands-On Furnace Commissioning and Service Tune-Up”.
6. Click on the Green Button labeled “Enroll” (free class!)
7. The user can now click on the video link and watch the presentation. Users can pause and back up the video anytime.
8. Once the video is completed, the user may now take the online Pre-Requisite Exam by clicking on the link. A passing exam score is NOT required in order to participate in the hands-on training. This on-line training is approximately one hour.
9. When the Exam is completed, the user will be allowed to schedule a hands-on class in either Commissioning, or Furnace Tune-Up training at the Clyde Park branch. (Johnstone Supply: 4757 Clyde Park SW / Grand Rapids MI 49509)  Look for upcoming dates at www.jswmi.com/training
