Low GWP Refrigerant Safety Training for Air Conditioning

March 28, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm - Johnstone South Bend

This course will cover Low GWP Refrigerants and their safe applications for air conditioning systems.

As the HVACR industry continues to move forward and innovate, refrigerants that were once commonplace to air conditioning systems are now being phased out. Replacing them are more energy efficient, environmentally friendlier refrigerants, known as Low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants. Many of these new refrigerants are classified by ASHRAE as A2L, or slightly flammable.
As a result of these changes, air conditioning installers and service technicians will require additional training for the safe handling and transportation of these refrigerants.  Goodman / Daikin is currently using Low GWP refrigerants in some of their product lines.

Topics Include:
• Refrigerant safety
• Introduction to Low GWP refrigerants
• Refrigerant properties and characteristics
• The refrigeration cycle
• Working with refrigerant blends
• Proper installation and service guidelines
• Flammable refrigerant considerations
• Explanation of the associated codes and standards for A2L refrigerant

Certification:
As part of this course, a training manual will be provided in advance that covers the class objectives. At the end of the course, an open-book 50 question assessment will be provided that verifies the comprehension of the course material.
