Basic Electricity and HVAC/R Components

May 19, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am - Virtual Classroom

This course will review some of the critical components used in HVAC/R systems.  Ohm’s law and Watt’s law will be used to examine crucial operating characteristics, troubleshooting techniques, and cross-referencing methods.  We’ll show how to check the capacitance of capacitors, as well the operating capacitor volts.  Transformers will be analyzed, with an emphasis on properly sizing to the application.  Contactor characteristics, including an in-depth look at the multiple amp ratings on the nameplate, will be covered.  Potential relays will also be discussed.
